MommyShape LLC provides naturopathic medical care, workshops, group classes, doula services, private instruction, and DVDs specializing in pre/post natal, Mommy and Me, and Parent/Tot education and fitness. All exercises in the MommyShape programs were designed for the safety of all levels of fitness and each stage of mommyhood.
Diane Angela Fong, ND (Founder of MommyShape)
Background: Dr. Diane Angela Fong, founder of MommyShape LLC, is a Naturopathic Doctor, certified pre/postnatal exercise specialist, DONA trained birth doula and alumni of UC Berkeley, where she studied Molecular Cell Biology and Dance.
Dr. Fong attended four years of Naturopathic Medical school and has done special clinical internships at the Center of Excellence in Generative Medicine with Dr. Peter D'Adamo, Pediatric Alternatives with Dr. Lindy Woodard, and with pediatric Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Jared Skowron. She has extensive knowledge in treating women and children, depression, anxiety, skin disorders, chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, gastrointestinal disorders, autoimmune diseases, and many more. Dr. Fong believes that the disease itself is not as important as the "root" cause of the "dis-ease" or imbalance in the bodily system and thinks of herself as a "health detective" in helping her clients uncover and treat these imbalances.
Her birth experience: While she was pregnant, Diane created MommyShape Prenatal Complete using her background in dance, fitness, and pre/postnatal exercise. She went on to have a completely natural birth, without the use of any drugs or interventions. Utilizing the relaxation and breathing techniques from her program, she was able to stay calm and relaxed during her entire labor. Her body (and mind) were ready for the marathon and although she didn't plan on it, she actually used some of the dance exercises to help her through contractions while she was in the water!
Diane gave birth to a beautiful and healthy 6lb. 15 oz. baby girl named Tali Kaiyha. She owes her amazing birthing experience and quick recovery to her supportive team, healthy eating habits, and weekly prenatal fitness regimen. Two days after giving birth, she was able to walk 25 blocks in the streets of New York City and was back to her pre-pregnancy weight in two months! She breastfed Tali as soon as she was born, and continues to breastfeed solely. Her prenatal fitness and calm birth also emanated to her daughter, who is now such a healthy, calm, and happy baby!
Diane hopes that her amazing pregnancy and birthing experience will inspire mommies to discover their ultimate health, love their beautiful MommyShape bodies, raise healthy families, and enjoy their pregnancies, deliveries and recoveries as much as she did.
